Question of the Week. . .

Question mark

What's your heaviest training week like?. . .

It's an Ironman year for several of us again and a first for me. In my case, the plan is to do more -- more miles, more hours, and hopefully have more fun and more rewarding experiences along the way. But how much "more" should I expect?. Is there enough training in my training plan? What's the mostand heaviest training week that should be expected? With this in mind, I'm asking what your heaviest training week in the past has been like, and how this season's training plan compares to those of past years.

In the past, the greatest number of hours spent training in a week was approximately:

Longest single day training ride was (indicate if miles or hours):

Longest single day training run was (indicate if miles or hours):

Most miles biked in a week was:

Most miles ran in a week was:

Did your heaviest cycling and running week happen to be the same week?
Yes, highest weekly mileage for cycling and running occurred in the same week
No, highest weekly mileage for cycling and running happen in different weeks

Compared to your past heaviest week, what's your plan for this season's heaviest week?
About the same as before
More this year than before
Less this year than before
If you plan on doing either more or less than before, what else are you doing differently?

Any other thoughts and comments on your training that you'd like to add (e.g. whether your longest day is not in yourlongest week, or how many of your longest runs or rides you plan on doing - once is enough, at least 3 times, etc.)

Your Name or Email (always optional)

The answer . . .

Thanks to Rich, Don, Joe, Bob and Tom for taking the time to give us a glimpse of what their heaviest training weeks are like. Summary of responses are in the table below.

(Cautionary note: Building to about 300 miles of cycing/week and 65 miles of running/week should notbe interpreted here as a complete IM training program because there's an art and scienceto figuring out how to build and taper your training program. It's literally true that "your mileage may vary.").
